Magical Connections and Where to Find Them

In the heart of the increasingly commercial and hectic Sliema, there is a little place that for two years has pulsed with genuine vitality and human warmth like no other around. It is called Connexion and the name itself should already suggest to you that it is something more than the usual dance school.

A place made on a human scale

Yes, it must be because the place is really so small and welcoming that it seems made on a human scale, but as soon as you enter you immediately realize that your daily worries remain outside. Nobody calls you by title or profession and you no longer need headphones or other technological trappings to protect yourself from the big and hostile world.

You feel that you are welcome and well accepted, not because you are supposed to have to buy something and go out, but because you feel sucked into a comfortable sofa where, in a few minutes, you will find yourself chatting relaxed with anyone.

Surprisingly, once you get up from the sofa, you then find yourself magically back as the authentic yourself, just as you might have felt as a child: a confused mix of laughter, fantasies, a carefree desire to run and play.

From the sofa to the dancefloor

Therefore you set out in search of companions in adventures and little by little you find support in all those you meet in there. Someone is going to extend their hand to you to venture your first steps to the rhythm of a cheerful Latin American melody; or maybe it will be you, a little looser, who will help those still nailed to the sofa to defuse the tension of the first time, the fear of making a mistake. Or, if you already got to know that smile, just let it burst in laughter to free each other from the anxiety of competition and from the desire to amaze anyone with your boundless talent.

Joy and commitment

As soon as you get on the dancefloor, whatever style you want to practice, each teacher will then help you connect with your mind and body, with the music and with those you walk the dancefloor with.

What else is dance, in fact, if not a particular physical and mental connection among human beings sharing the same motivations and passion? Of course, it is also commitment, dedication, constant exercise and hours of practice in order to improve oneself, according to one’s personal goals, as each of the teachers very well show; but I believe that first of all it is pure joy, which is very contagious, actually, starting from that spreaded by the teachers themselves, but which is up to each of us to draw out, accept and fully enjoy with others.

Daily worries converted in positive energy

Here, Connexion is that place where this magic happens, without the need for wands or mysterious formulas: precisely for everyone expresses himself while having fun together with the others, everyday bitterness is naturally converted into positive energy.

So when you go out, more than an obvious tiredness, you will have the distinct feeling of having recharged your batteries of life, of being ready to face your next commitments in top form, first of all the dance! Yes, because you will not be looking forward to getting back on the dancefloor, experiencing the same emotions as the first time, discovering new ones.

Bachata, Salsa, Kizomba, Tango and more!

Will you choose a traditional Dominican or a sensual modern Bachata, a frenetic Salsa, a romantic Kizomba or an elegant Tango for your first class? Or you cannot wait to join the parties, workshops, practice-only evenings, events organized by the school?

It seems incredible that such a small place can offer such a wide choice, eye-catching options, and is always open to fresh new ideas, inspiring collaborations and projects.

But it’s all true. I can personally testify: for two years now, I could say that I have now been part of the interior design, such is the pleasure of not missing a single evening at Connexion.
